6.  Quotes

"A teacher of fear can't bring peace on earth.
We have been trying to do it that way for thousands of years.
The person who turns inner violence around, the person who
finds peace inside and lives it, is the one who teaches
what true peace is. We are waiting for just one teacher.
You're the one."
Byron Katie

8. New Book

Radical Work
By Kriben Pillay

Paperback - 90pages (Feb 2001)
Noumenon Press;
ISBN: 0-9584355-2-9

This little book explores the value of The Work as a
means of bringing about clarity, creativity and efficiency
in the workplace. It sets out the theory of radical transformation,
drawing on the insights of leading thinkers - David Bohm,
Daniel Goleman, J. Krishnamurti, Danah Zohar and others -
showing why The Work of Byron Katie could be the most
radical, but simple tool that organizations can use for
bringing about the end of conflict and the beginning of
true creative action.

Pillay quotes Katie:

"The truth is that no matter how kind our words
and actions appear on the surface, we all have
judgments running in our heads."

The Work deconstructs thinking, explores every
facet of a judgement or 'story' in order to see how
it is constructed. The Work exposes and undermines
the assumptions and strategies that keep the judgement
or story alive as a source of stress, pain and suffering.

The deconstruction leads to a re-synthesis, a turnaround,
a healing, as judgements and 'stories' lose their grip.
The result is clarity.

Pillay -- whose presentation of Byron Katie's Work is
founded in the mature integration of The Work into
his own life -- says,

"The Work is not about theoretical understanding.
It is about directly seeing the causes of one's
problems, stress and suffering. Nor is it about
masking our distress with motivational talk."

The Work of Byron Katie

We notice the feeling of stress in the moment,
investigate the story behind it,
and realize that it may not be true for us.
And through this realization, we're free.
